In this introduction to the theatrical single sword, students will learn the moves and techniques to safely and effectively perform stage combat while portraying a character with honesty and sincerity. Students will utilize wooden dowels and engage in a safe, controlled environment. This will allow students to learn how these concepts can be adapted into a number of different weapons styles, as well as being present with their scene partner, how to react appropriately in staged violence, and respect the importance of rehearsal. A final showcase presentation will take place on the last day of class.
